Two firms form largest marking systems

Dover Corporation has combined two of its engineering companies, Markem Corporation and Imaje into one, Markem.Imaje, as the world's largest product identification systems provider.

Dover Corporation has recently announced the combination of two of its Dover Engineered Systems companies: Markem Corporation (located in Keene, New Haven, USA) and Imaje (located in Bourg-les-Valence, France) The Markem.Imaje business has become the world's largest product identification systems provider, said Dover

The business will provide a comprehensive range of marking and coding systems for packaging industry customers around the world.

"For many reasons, this integration makes sense not only for Markem and Imaje, but for customers as well," said Omar Kerbage, president of Dover's Product Identification Group.

"Markem and Imaje had always maintained a cordial competitive relationship that grew closer in 2006 when Markem joined Dover, Imaje's corporate parent since 1995.

Starting last December, the senior management teams of Markem and Imaje have been discussing opportunities for cooperation between the two companies.

The conclusion was to form one business in order to increase the value provided to both our customers and shareholders".

President of Markem.Imaje, Serge Kral, said: "Customers in the packaging industry are increasingly looking for partners who can deliver a complete, global solution at the best cost of ownership.

Markem.Imaje is now better positioned than any other supplier to meet these customer needs".
