Induction motor market weathers industrial storm
The worldwide induction motor market is one of the most stable industrial end-equipment markets and their contribution to factory automation systems should not be understated.
However, the Asia Pacific market is now projected to experience the strongest increase due to high growth in China and India, coupled with slower growth in Germany, the dominant market within EMEA.
Among the HMI hardware product groups analysed, open HMI hardware will be the fastest growing, experiencing a CAGR of 27.8%.
Although the market for this type of product is currently quite small, by 2009 it is expected that open HMIs will be the third largest product group, exceeded in size by only graphic and touchscreen operator panels.

Eastern Europe takes on more food manufacturing
Researchers forecast that the European market for food and beverage processing equipment will steadily increase to over EUR 9.2 billion by 2009, growing at around 4% per year.
IMS Research senior analyst and report author, Tim Dawson commented: "Open HMIs enable the user to configure the product to a particular application by accessing the operating system and scaling it to meet their needs".
"The products are designed to fill the gap between traditional HMI products and full blown industrial PCs, typically offering increased functionality and flexibility over traditional HMIs at a lower cost than industrial PCs." Dawson continued: "the growth for open HMI will be influenced by a number of factors".
"These include increased user awareness resulting from a rise in the number of available products, and the replacement of sales of both traditional HMI with embedded operating systems and lower level industrial PCs".
"Some new applications for open HMI will also be created to further contribute to growth." * About IMS Research - IMS Research is a specialist supplier of market research and consultancy services on global electronics markets.
