Motion conreol standardised for
packaging machines
Designed specifically to revolutionise packaging automation, a motion control platform standardises hardware, interfaces and software to automate packaging machinery - large or small.
Automation and motion control specialist, INMOCO, is launching a new system at PPMA, designed specifically to revolutionise packaging automation The ELAU PacDriveT uses only standardized hardware, interfaces and software to offer packaging companies an automation system that employs the same structure for both small and large machines

INMOCO adds more industrial automation controllers
INMOCO has added seven new servo and stepper models to its popular MultiPro family of industrial automation controllers from Control Technology Corporation (CTC).
Brushless digital servos have SERCOS connectivity
Already 40% smaller than equivalent brushless digital servo drives, the Pacific Scientific all-digital PC800 range from Inmoco now offers more functionality, with SERCOS connectivity.
As a result, machine development times are cut by up to 50%, whole machine life cycle costs reduced by up to 30%, while productivity is increased by an average of 25%.
Developed from well-proven PC technologies, the PacDriveT has been designed especially to meet the requirements of the packaging industry.
It consists of a powerful PC-based control, the PacController, which provides a platform for both IEC 61131 PLC and motion control functions.
A Profibus DP master connection for all PLC signals, and a digital SERCOS drive bus for the control of decentralized servo drives are also integrated into the control.
In addition, extensive facilities for monitoring and control, using operator interface panels and Window-based HMI's, are provided via RS 485 and Ethernet interfaces, the latter also enabling supervisory systems to interrogate PacDrive and easily diagnose all states of the system.
The benefits of PacDrive's totally digital open architecture, and highs levels of integration in hardware and software, are evident from the new standards of performance that can be achieved with the system.
Compared with conventional automation architectures, PacDriveTM reduces development times by around 50%, machine costs by 30% and increases productivity by 25%.
It not only permits precise motion functions with greater dynamics and more flexibility, but is also an ingenious and trend-setting approach to simplifying the complete automation solution.
What is more, the consistent automation concept minimizes the costs for quality assurance, spare parts and service substantially.
The compact-book sized PacDrive is a truly international product, complying with a host of international standards including CE, EN, UL and CUL.
With the demands for standardization in the global field of packaging technology growing stronger, this means that no other system is more qualified to achieve conformance and deliver the improvements in performance and development and life cycle costs required by both builders and users of packaging machines.
