Smart servo drive operates with linear
motors too

Offering up to 1.2kW of power in an incredibly compact package measuring just 105mm x 75mm x 42mm, a smart digital servo drive works with DC brushed, AC brushless and linear motors.

Offering up to 1.2kW of power in an incredibly compact package measuring just 105mm x 75mm x 42mm, Inmoco's new Elmo Bassoon is a smart digital servo drive that gives OEMs the flexibility of operating with DC brushed, AC brushless and linear motors Fully programmable, with 32kB of memory, and extremely flexible, the Bassoon is available as a fully digital, position, velocity or current mode amplifier, as a network drive in distributed motion systems using the CANOpen interface, or as a standalone motion controller for single axis servo control

The Bassoon series of servo drives brings high power density and increased precision to a wide range of automated applications including robotics, machine tools, packaging, semiconductor production, materials handling, sorting, printing, textiles and many, many more.

Although extremely compact, the Bassoon Series drives forfeit nothing in functionality, offering all the dynamics, precision and functionality of much larger servo drives with a specification that integrates position loop, and both digital current and digital velocity loops, all with auto tuning adjustment.

The Bassoon is fully programmable (32kB of memory is available for storing programs), and by employing ELMO's composer software, users can achieve drive set-up, configuration, tuning, analysis and drive programming, quickly and easily.

In addition to simplified commissioning, users also benefit from reductions in system size and cost, as a result of the Bassoon Series units having their own integrated power supplies.

The drives offer the flexibility of operating on both AC and DC supplies and are designed for 5A continuous output.

They also provide one of the widest ranges of feedback options: 2 x incremental encoder (with or without halls), resolver, interpolated analog encoder (SIN/COS) with internal interpolator and Tacho or Potentiometer, plus sinusoidal and trapezoidal commutation for AC or DC brushless, DC brush and linear motors.

The many onboard facilities of the Bassoon Series give OEMs the widest range of operating possibilities, including Point-to Point positioning, Dual Loop operation- which compensates for mechanical backlash, Follower, Pulse and Direction, PTP, PVT, PT and ECAM, or Electronic CAM.

These operating modes are complemented by fast event capturing inputs and a fast output compare (OC) feature.

As a servo drive for single or multiple axis applications, the Bassoon can be implemented quickly via CANopen protocol DS-301 and DSP-402.

This facility, plus the simple set-up and tuning provided by the ELMO Composer software and Interlude Communication API enables the user a fast and problem-free integration of the servo drives into almost any type of machine. Request a free brochure from Inmoco ...
