Starpack awards go from strength to
strength
The Starpack Industry Awards 2007, the UK's most prestigious awards programme is to be run in partnership with the Wilmington Group.
Always on the look out for new ideas to stimulate innovation in the packaging industry the organisers IOP: The Packaging Society, is intent on expanding the influence of the awards in to all parts of the supply chain "It is essential that the UK's foremost packaging awards programme mirrors the many changes taking place in consumer, retailing and branded goods markets and the Wilmington Group brings extra impetus to the awards programme across a range of end user and technical sectors of industry," said Gordon Stewart, Head of IOP: The Packaging Society

Tube labelling machine order illustrates trend
An ongoing industry trend is towards labelling tubes as opposed to using pre-decorated tubes; a trend that has been evident since the arrival of bespoke tube labelling machines.
Stewart continued: "The breadth of coverage offered by Wilmington's publishing portfolio and the positioning of the Starpack Awards alongside Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition 2007, plus the introduction of a number of new award categories, ensures that we will remain the most relevant packaging competition in the UK." The deal for the UK's leading packaging awards includes media support from Wilmington's magazine portfolio that includes Packaging Today, Converting Today, RFID Solutions, Manufacturing Chemist, SPC (Soap, Perfumery and Cosmetics), ECM (European Cosmetics Market), and Blueprint Magazine (Design).
Following the success of the Starpack Industry Awards 2006 a number of categories have been created including the opportunity to win a Gold, Silver or Bronze Starpack Industry Award 2007 for the Best Pharmacy and Toiletries Pack, and the Best Metal Packaging Innovation, alongside awards covering the food and drink sector, packaging design, environmental awareness and a host of technical innovation awards.
"Awards programmes must never stand still but grow to encompass all the challenges facing the packaging supply chain".

IOP: The Packaging Society's awards' programme is the only scheme that commits its resources to building a sustainable future for the sector through the Student and Schools Awards programme.
"The Student and Schools Starpack Awards honour students and pupils from the nation's universities, colleges and schools to create a pool of talent that will become the life force of the packaging industry", explained Stewart.
The glittering Awards ceremonies, dinner and cabaret will be held on May 15 2007 at the National Motorcycle Museum situated adjacent to the Birmingham NEC.
