Going for Gold at Starpack 2007

An IOP: The Packaging Society - Starpack Awards product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Feb 23, 2007

The judges for the Starpack Industry Awards 2007 are in for a busy and challenging time when they are faced with the 352 entries to the UK's most prestigious packaging competition

Fostering co-operation across the packaging supply chain is the reason behind the Starpack awards programme and the entry figures show that this is being conducted successfully.

Proof that the message has been taken on board by the supply chain comes with the 41 entries received from brand owners; a sure sign that the role packaging plays in society is being understood.

Another measure of the success is the 73 entries received for the Best Consumer Pack - Food and Drink alone.

For the 2007 Awards IOP: The Packaging Society has placed additional emphasis on environmental criteria across the 18 categories.

And the result is an increasing number of entries focusing on sustainable packaging developments including compostable and biodegradable materials; recyclability; reuse; lightweighting; and new food grade recyclable resins.

Creating a festival of packaging the Starpack Industry Awards 2007 ceremony, gala dinner and cabaret will be held at the same time as the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition, the UK's largest packaging event, (May 15-18 Birmingham NEC).The Awards take place at the National Motorcycle Museum on the evening of May 15 and bookings are now being taken for what promises to be the highlight of the packaging calendar.
