users
A low cost warehouse management system for the UK market is designed to fall within the budget of several potential customers such as the smaller distributor.
At ILT 2003, Lilly Software Associates announces today a new low cost warehouse management system (WMS) for the UK market, designed to fall within the budget of several potential customers: the smaller distributor; an organisation with few but crucial distribution and warehouse management requirements; or one that requires a system without the need for more expensive radio frequency (RF) barcode scanning features The new WMS package from Lilly Software, VISUAL DCMS Paper-Based, incorporates key features of the company's existing and larger warehouse and distribution management software suite - VISUAL Enterprise for Distributors

and above.
The new software package, VISUAL DCMS Paper-Based, is complementary, but in comparison is aimed at smaller distributors that need a more affordable alternative to the cost of investing in RF resources.
It is ideal, Lilly Software claims, for those companies using zone picking environments, simple workflows and manual routing methods.
Dr Maz Mohamedali, sales and marketing director for Lilly Software Associates in Europe, said "There are many distributors that currently cannot afford to invest in RF technology, or do not have large distribution and warehouse operations and do not need the features offered by RF-based systems.
Yet both types of business want a set of competent, robust and reliable software functions to automate their operations and to track inventory.
The lower cost coupled to the many functions of VISUAL DCMS Paper-Based offers a highly competitive solution to these requirements." Both the new and existing distribution systems from Lilly Software closely mesh warehouse and related processes into the supply chain and offer SMEs a host of key functions and good value for money.
In both cases, fully integrated application modules are clustered around one central database, which facilitates the unimpeded flow of data throughout sales, manufacturing and distribution functions within the organisation and beyond.
"This end-to-end approach will enable companies to offer better customer service, facilitate transactions with suppliers and make cost savings possible by further streamlining supply chain operations.
It will also speed communications, making them more direct and helping to improve decision making as a result," said Maz Mohamedali.
VISUAL DCMS Paper-Based and in turn, VISUAL Enterprise for Distributors is a sub-set of Lilly Software Associates' VISUAL Enterprise suite of products for comprehensive supply chain management.
This means the company offers applications that span all the key functions in a manufacturing or distribution business, from sales order entry to manufacturing and warehousing, and through to delivery of finished goods to the customer.
Through its network of Associates in Europe and around the world, Lilly Software offers full support for the VISUAL Enterprise suite of products, together with consultancy and maintenance services.
VISUAL DCMS Paper-Based and the VISUAL Enterprise suite of products are based on Microsoft technology and the familiar Windows interface.
As a result, the integrated systems are less costly to maintain than other technologies, easier to use and enables improved productivity and faster return on investment (RoI) to be achieved rapidly.
As an official Microsoft development partner, Lilly Software is actively engaged with the company in bringing the benefits of the software giant's.NET internet technology to the VISUAL Enterprise product line.
The software also runs on other operating platforms, as described below.
