Complete single-source tray packing line shown

An Ishida product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jul 22, 2003

A complete single-source tray packing line comprises tray denesting, multihead weighing, tray filling and sealing, weigh-price-labelling and pick-and-place casepacking.

Ishida Europe, one of the world's leading suppliers of complete weighing and packing line solutions, will be demonstrating a complete single-source tray packing line at PPMA.

Comprising tray denesting, multihead weighing, tray filling and sealing, weigh-price-labelling and pick-and-place casepacking, Ishida's fully-integrated tray packing system enables significant improvements in weighing and packing speed and efficiency.

Also on show will be a model from the company's new WPL 5000 series of weigh-price-labellers, which can reach speeds of over 100 packs per minute for common label sizes, and a new fresh food weigher, which allows processors of "sticky" products to automate their weighing process for the first time.

Ishida's tray packing lines have been designed for both free-flowing and sticky fresh foods such as vegetables, fruit, salads, meat, poultry, fish, seafood and ready meals.

Additional features, such as a webcam and mobile gantry, have been incorporated to maximise ease of operation and control.

Complete integration of all the elements of a tray packing line can improve throughput and productivity, reduce labour costs, cut waste and downtime, and unharness unique efficiencies.

Payback periods are shown to be surprisingly low in this type of installation.

A second highlight at Ishida's stand will be the WPL 5000.

Further testament to Ishida's commitment to the fresh food industry, intensive development work has resulted in extremely fast and accurate label application, even on irregular surfaces or awkwardly-shaped products.

The series' unique cassette system allows label changes to be carried out in a matter of seconds, minimising downtime.

Both top- and under-labelling are possible.

One of Ishida's major product launches for 2003 is the fresh food weigher series.

The weighers utilise the combination weighing principle, long the exclusive domain of dry and frozen foods, but apply it to sticky products which, until recently, could be weighed and packed only by hand.

The new FF range increases weighing accuracy, speed and consistency while reducing product giveaway and waste.

With operating speeds of up to 70 weighments per minute, Ishida's fresh food weighers can achieve a product giveaway of only 0.5g or less than 1% of the target weight, providing huge commercial benefits for many food processors.
