Coated carbide roughers last longer on
hard steels
Carbide roughing cutters, coated with AlTiN to reduce friction and improve lubrication, provide increased tool life while machining hardened steels at speeds ranging up to 200m/min.
At MACH 2004 specialist tooling manufacturer ITC will be exhibiting the new range of Hanita carbide roughing cutters The new 4976 series has been specifically designed significantly increase tool life while machining hardened steels at speeds ranging up to 200m/min

Manufactured from ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide, a two flute ball nosed, straight shank cutter is designed to machine steels hardened to 65 Rockwell C.
The new 4976 range provides a performance improvement of up to 200% when compared to competitor products whilst giving a surface finish of 63Ra.
The 4976 series is available in sizes from 4mm to 25mm diameter with a length of cut ranging from 8mm to 45mm.
The state of the art AlTiN coating reduces friction and improves lubrication capabilities.
This is combined with the optimal number of flutes for individual cutter diameters to ensure the 4976 range performs exceptionally well under wet and dry conditions on difficult to cut materials including grey cast iron, stainless steel and titanium.
The significant advantage of the Varimill over competitor products is the unequal tooth spacing and patented parabolic core diameter, which provides silent, chatter free machining.
The Hanita 4976 range of roughing cutters have an overall length ranging from 57mm to 121mm and it is designed for higher throughput at lower machining costs.
The company will also be exhibiting the Hanita VariMill series at MACH.
The 4 flute square end cutter has a 38 degree helix for slotting and finishing stainless steels and high temperature alloys at speeds up to 115m/min.
The carbide cutter is available with a TiAlN coating or uncoated upon request with diameters ranging from 4mm to 25mm with a length of cut from 12mm to 45mm These products will be demonstrated on stand 4751 at MACH 2004 on a Matsuura machining centre.
