Latest tooling raises feeds and speeds
Among a wide range of tooling to be shown at the UK's Northern Manufacturing 2005 will be cutters that can machine aluminium, plastics and brass at extremely high speeds and feeds.
The 2051 series can also machine plastics and brass.
To compliment the 2051 series, ITC will also shown the new micro grain solid carbide 2082 reduced shank series of 2 flute ball nose cutters.
For the machining of graphite, the company will exhibit its 2071, 2072 two flute and 4072 four flute range of diamond coated cutters.
The wear resistant micro grain carbide end mills have a 30 degree helix to efficiently machine graphite and other abrasive materials.
The 2071 square end and 2072 ball nosed solid carbide cutters are available in sizes from 2 to 12mm in 2mm increments.
The 2071 series will cut at feeds up to 0.04mm per tooth at speeds beyond the capabilities of most modern machine tools.
The 2072 and 4072 ball nose series can cut graphite at spindle speeds up to 20,000rpm at feed rates of up to 3m/min.
Further additions to the renowned Cyber Series to be shown, are the 2 flute 2032 and 2042 series of ball nosed end mills.
Designed for the high speed machining of hardened steels, the TiALN coated cutters have a short length for maximum rigidity.
The 2032/42 series has a length of cut ranging from 4 to 25mm on an overall shank length of 75 to 150mm and can machine steels hardened to 65 Rockwell C.
ITC will also exhibit the new range of Hanita carbide roughing cutters.
The new 4976 series can machine hardened steels at speeds ranging up to 200m/min.
It provides a performance improvement of up to 200% whilst giving a surface finish of 63Ra.
It is AlTiN coated to reduce friction and improve lubrication, enabling it to cut under wet and dry conditions on difficult to cut materials.
Other products on show will be the Hanita miniature rib milling cutters.
The square and ball nosed end mills cut graphite and steels hardened to 60 Rockwell C at speeds up to 150m/min.
The four series in the range all come with the option of high quality TiAIN for machining hard materials or a Diamond Like Coating (DLC) specifically for machining graphite, aluminium and materials with a high silicone content.
The range includes the 7N01 series 2 flute, short neck ball nosed end mill, which is available in sizes from 0.3mm to 6mm rising in 0.1mm increments with a 50mm overall length and a shank diameter of 6mm.
To accompany the 7N01 cutter, is the 7N02, 2 flute short neck square end mill.
It is capable of cutting materials up to 60 Rockwell C at 15 to 30m/min.
Another cutter in the series is the 2 flute, very long neck 7N12 square end cutter.
The 7N12 series has a reach length of up to 12.5mm and an overall cutter length of 60mm.
ITC will also exhibit the new range of Hanita 'Vision' end mills.
It has been designed to increase tool life while machining steels hardened up to 67 Rockwell C at speeds ranging up to 200m/min and provides a performance improvement of up to 200%.
ITC is the sole UK agent and stockist of the Hanita range.
The company will also exhibit a complete range of 70+ air turbine tools from Air Turbine Technologies (ATT).
The infinitely flexible range of lightweight tools includes products with spindle speeds ranging from 20,000 to 65,000rpm.
The tools can be used for grinding, deburring, finishing, mouldmaking, CNC machining, drilling, robotics, etching and a host of other applications on materials ranging from wood, plastic, rubber and stone through to wrought iron, cast materials and exotic alloys.
The turbine tools are all gearless and contain a friction free motor with fewer moving parts to ensure a 30% saving on compressed air consumption and minimal noise levels and vibration during operation.
The air turbine tools are supplied with a 3 or 6mm collet, collet wrenches and air supply fittings.
Up to 140 additional spindles and tools are held in stock.
For specific applications, ATT tools are available with 45 and 90 degree angled heads.
The company holds vast quantities of all products in stock and it will demonstrate the capabilities of the tooling range at MACH 2004 on a Matsuura machining centre on stand 4751.
