Cutters machine carbon fibre/metal
matrix
Among exhibits at the UK's Autosport exhibition in 2008 will be a PCD range of cutters for carbon fibre and metal matrix machining and a series of roughing tools.
At the Autosport exhibition at the Birmingham NEC in January 2008, ITC of Tamworth, UK, on stand E452, will exhibit a PCD range of cutters for carbon fibre and metal matrix machining and its 4091 waveform series of roughing tools On show too will be the established 4081 series and an extensive range of Air Turbine hand held rotary air tools for deburring

Diamond end mills offer longer life in graphite
Diamond coated, high wear resistant micro grain carbide end mills have a 30 degree helix specifically designed for machining graphite with longer tool life than equivalent carbide tools.
Micro-grained ball nose cutter mills hard steels
Manufactured from ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide, a two flute ball nosed, straight shank cutter is designed to machine steels hardened to 65 Rockwell C.
There will also be fixture mounted motors and machining centre speed increasers.
ITC told manufacturingtalk.com that its 2102 and 2111 Series of PCD ball nosed end mills with solid carbide shank and PCD brazed tips are widely used among racing car teams.
The products offer enhanced tool life and productivity when machining carbon fibres.

Carbide cutters machine aluminium at high speeds
Specifically designed for machining aluminium, solid carbide straight shank cutters have the versatility to machine a host of materials ranging from plastic to brass and copper.
Coated carbide roughers last longer on hard steels
Carbide roughing cutters, coated with AlTiN to reduce friction and improve lubrication, provide increased tool life while machining hardened steels at speeds ranging up to 200m/min.
Mill aluminium, brass, at high speeds and feeds
Two flute solid carbide cutter has a 50 degree right hand helix, specifically designed for machining aluminium at extremely high speeds and feeds as well as plastics and brass.
The solid shank guarantees rigidity under difficult cutting conditions whilst the PCD tips demonstrate tool life beyond that of its competitors.
In the rapid response motorsport industry, the availability of these cutting tools from stock is a major advantage to the end user.
* Titanium machining - the 4091 'Waveform' roughing range iprovides rapid metal removal of titanium and related alloys.
Alongside the 4091 Series will be the established 4081 Series of long reach 'Harmonic Flute' end mills.
Both ranges are available 'off-the-shelf' with various radii from 0.5mm upwards.
* Excellent swarf evacuation - the 4081 series is an AlTin coated four flute solid carbide end mill with a harmonic flute geometry that provides excellent swarf evacuation.
The single, square end straight shank tool with right hand helix has a radical unequal flute spacing.
As a result of extensive development, ITC has launched a cutter that delivers exceptional stability and metal removal rates.
The flute spacing of the 4081 series significantly reduces machining noise by eliminating the harmonic effect.
The 4081 series is available in a diameter range from 3 to 32mm with a length of cut ranging from 9 to 60mm.
* Company development - the inward investment has seen ITC recently take delivery of an Anca grinding machine with further Walter and Rollmatic grinding centres set to follow shortly.
The new acquisitions, said ITC to manufacturingtalk.com, are destined to see the company maintain its exceptional ability to rapidly turn around special tooling and re-grinds.
With the motor sport industry focusing upon rapid response and special tooling, ITC said it is well positioned to meet the needs of this demanding industry.
A market trend that ITC has noted is the increasing demand for special tooling and this is emphasised in the growing demand for 'dogging cutters' for gear cutting.
With its new machine tools, ITC can now meet and exceed customer expectations in the gear cutting arena.
ITC will also exhibit the new range of Hanita and Metal Removal Products.
With the exception of Hanita and Metal Removal products, all cutting tools are manufactured at ITC's state of the art grinding shop.
