Tooling exhibitor also buys machine at
MACH 2008
As well as showing its latest PCD cutting tools at the UK's recent MACH 2008 event, ITC Tooling also placed an order for its second Walter Helicheck machine.
ITC tooling exhibited its latest range of polycrystalline diamond (PCD) cutting tools and its extended range of Hanita tooling at the recent UK MACH 2008 machine tool show The Hanita AluSurf series for aluminium machining received considerable interest from the aerospace market, said ITC

Diamond end mills offer longer life in graphite
Diamond coated, high wear resistant micro grain carbide end mills have a 30 degree helix specifically designed for machining graphite with longer tool life than equivalent carbide tools.
Micro-grained ball nose cutter mills hard steels
Manufactured from ultra wear resistant micro grain carbide, a two flute ball nosed, straight shank cutter is designed to machine steels hardened to 65 Rockwell C.
Of even more interest, said ITC, was its ITC PCD range and the Hanita Hi-Feed series for machining hardened steels up to 65HRc.
There was also interest in the machining of difficult materials such as graphite, metal matrix, composites and Kevlar.
The MACH exhibition gave ITC the opportunity for the company to place an order for its second Walter Helicheck machine.
ITC told manufacturingtalk that it is the only UK cutting tool manufacturer to have two Helicheck machines.
They give a repeat accuracy on diameter measurements of +0.002mm and +0.003mm on the cutter length, and underline ITC's commitment to cutter quality, repeatability and accuracy levels.
* End mills - the 2111 and 2102 PCD series end mills have been developed to meet the needs of the motorsport and aerospace sectors and enquiries at the show reflected this, said the company.
The new range has already delivered productivity improvements, extended tool life and enhanced quality levels for leading aerospace and F1 manufacturers, said ITC.
* Investments in UK tool manufacture - Apart from the Hanita and Metal Removal products distributed by ITC, all cutting tools are manufactured at ITC's state of the art grinding shop in Tamworth, UK.
Company director, Peter Graves, believed the facility is probably the best equipped in the UK.
ITC operates a workshop that has new CNC grinding machines from the acknowledged World leaders such as Walter, Schneeberger, Deckel, Rollomatic, and Anca.
ITC has also invested in computerised optical measuring equipment to maintain its high standards.
A installed centralised oil filtration system guarantees that tool grinding takes place under optimum conditions in clean oil to ensure repetitive accuracy.
