Gap control system upgraded at cold mill
Olin Corporation has purchased a hydraulic gap control system upgrade from Industrial Automation Services (IAS) for the four stand cold mill at East Alton, Illinois, USA.
In May 2002, Olin Corporation purchased a hydraulic gap control (HGC) system upgrade from Industrial Automation Services (IAS) for the four stand cold mill at East Alton, Illinois, USA The HGC technology incorporates software and hardware to control rollgap position in each of the four mill stands
The system replaces the obsolete HGC supplied in 1992 with the latest technology and hardware, using IEC1131-3 graphical programming / maintenance software and VME based hardware.
A one week start up is scheduled for the end of 2002 and will be achieved with minimal interruption to production.
