Continuous cold mill setup model upgrade completed
In October 2003, IAS achieved acceptance for the continuous cold mill setup technology upgrade for the pickle line tandem cold mill at Pangang Group, Sichuan Province, China.
In October 2003, IAS achieved acceptance for the continuous cold mill setup technology upgrade for the pickle line tandem cold mill at Pangang Group International Economic and Trading Corporation, Panzhihua, Sichuan Province, China.
The major components of the system acceptance included improvements in productivity, reliability and thickness performance. The setup models include dynamic order change (flying gauge change) technology, normalised reduction algorithms, rollgap models, speed dependent reference trajectories, schedule dependent gains and adaptive learning algorithms to improve transition and body thickness performance and consistency and also reduce system maintenance.
Given the relative inaccessibility of the site, a key feature of the automation is its reliability.
This was achieved by the use of a PC based system for which spare components are easily sourced and which is readily understood by maintenance staff.
The setup models were supplied with the assistance of ABB who supplied the mill's Level 1 automation system and design for the Level 2 automation, which was implemented by ARIM.
IAS is also currently upgrading the setup model on the Panzhihua hot finish mill.
