Wonderware Strategic Integration Group has received the first purchase order for its Predictive Maintenance solution from the multinational Engelhard Corp.

Wonderware, a business unit of Invensys recently announced that the Wonderware Strategic Integration Group (WSIG) has received the first purchase order for its Predictive Maintenance solution from the multinational Engelhard Corp., a long term Wonderware and Avantis strategic customer The solution consists of a series of ArchestrA software objects that run on Wonderware's Industrial Application Server, which facilitates automated updates from the plant floor to drive maintenance work orders in a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)

This interoperability solution will provide real-time connectivity between the shop floor and Engelhard's Avantis CMMS installation.

"WSIG Predictive Maintenance solutions can yield high returns on investment," said Yves Dufort, WSIG's general manager and director of services.

"This solution is designed to reduce overtime and maintenance labour costs, cut down MRO inventory, decrease planned downtimes through better-planned maintenance, lessen unplanned downtimes through more timely maintenance, and improve coordination between the maintenance and production departments to minimise disruption." The WSIG Predictive Maintenance solution includes software and project services that link a plant's maintenance system with equipment usage.

As part of the design of this Predictive Maintenance solution, an adapter for the MRO software's Maximo CMMS is also being created.

These offerings leverage Invensys' ArchestrA software architecture to link maintenance events and plant production data.

"We decided to implement the WSIG Predictive Maintenance solution because we expect it to reduce our MRO inventory, decrease planned and unplanned downtimes, and lower our labour costs for maintenance labour and overtime," said Gary Yacobian, senior engineer for Engelhard.

"It should also minimise disruptions in production by improving coordination between our maintenance and production activities."
