Precision chain-maker to celebrate 90
years

Roller chains are maintenance-free
Maintenance-free roller chains have made their mark in a range of applications and can be used wherever lubrication is difficult or impossible to implement.
Having set up his own bicycle factory in Chemnitz, Germany, he later moved to Munich where he founded Iwis in 1916.
Iwis' industrial chain drives division, Iwis Antriebssysteme, supplies high-performance roller chains and precision chains for machine and plant construction, packaging, printing and food industries, material handling systems and other industrial applications.
Since 2006 the industrial division is an independent subsidiary of its parent company, which specializes in the production of precision timing chains and systems for the automotive industry.
Iwis chains are distributed worldwide.
Still run as a family business and now in its fourth generation, Iwis employs more than 800 people at its production sites in Munich, Strakonice in the Czech Republic, and the Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech.
Last year, Iwis' Landsberg factory was awarded first place in the national German Factory of the Year 2005 competition.
