Conveyor chains have low-friction
running rollers
Maintenance free power and free conveyor chains with low-friction running rollers by Iwis have a built-in lubricant reservoir, which supplies the chain links and running rollers with lubricant.
Iwis Antriebssysteme has introduced its Megalife range of maintenance-free power and free conveyor chains Iwis has developed and patented a special link with specially sintered metal bushes and running rollers

Roller chains are maintenance-free
Maintenance-free roller chains have made their mark in a range of applications and can be used wherever lubrication is difficult or impossible to implement.
Gentle conveyor chains optimise load distribution
Power and free conveyor chains have rollers arranged in an offset pattern to combine an optimised load distribution with a gentler, more even transport of the conveyed goods.
In addition, the chains have a built-in lubricant reservoir, which supplies the chain links and running rollers with lubricant during the chain operation: The special sintered material is saturated with oil under vacuum conditions.
The surface of the chains are lubricant-free new and do not need to be relubricated during use, said Iwis to manufacturingtalk.
The chains remain clean throughout their service life and thus do not contaminate the products.

Drive and conveyor chains offer extra strength
Conforming to the ISO 606 and DIN 8187 standards, and with their excellent price:performance ratio, sturdy drive and conveyor chains are ideal for all standard applications.
Maintenance-free roller chains have long life
Maintenance-free Megalife roller chains have improved wear-resistance and durability, achieved through thermo-chemical treatment of its pins, guaranteeing a long lifespan.
Corrosion-resistant roller chain beats humidity
Iwis-Flexon, a high-performance roller chain manufacturer, has introduced a range of corrosion-resistant roller chains to withstand humid and corrosive environments.
The chains suit applications where re-lubrication is not possible or would be disadvantageous.
This includes dry ambient conditions, cleanrooms, installations with restricted maintenance access and applications in which a contamination of the plant and conveyed products through chain lubricants needs to be prevented.
* Low wear - Megalife power and free conveyor chains are exceptionally low wearing, even under extreme environmental conditions, claimed Iwis.
The sintered metal running rollers reduce friction by up to 30%, thus resulting in a substantial reduction of the required drive power and chain load.
The chains are easy to dismantle, which simplifies servicing and reduces down times.
Iwis Megalife power and free conveyor chains are claimed to reduce maintenance costs and contribute to a cleaner environment.
Plastics and hardened steel versions of the conveyor chains (V2A-steel or nickel-plated) are available.
Chains with steel rollers can be used at a temperature range from -40 deg C to 160 deg C.
Chains with plastics conveying rollers are suitable for up to 80 deg C.
Megalife power and free conveyor chains are available with pitches of 12.7mm and 19.05mm.
The Megalife chains are applied in packaging and food processing, the electronics industry, PCB-production, conveyor systems, wood, glass and ceramics processing and in medical engineering.
* About Iwis - Iwis Antriebssysteme and Co KG, supplies high-performance roller chains and precision chain systems for machine and plant construction, packaging, printing and food industries, material handling systems and other industrial applications.
Since 2006, Iwis Antriebssysteme is an independent subsidiary of Iwis Motorsysteme and Co KG, which produces timing chains and systems for the automotive industry.
The company s history goes back to the end of the 19th century, when Johann Baptist Winklhofer started to import bicycles from England.
Having set up his own bicycle factory in Chemnitz, he later moved to Munich where he founded Iwis in 1916.
Still run as a family business, and now in its fourth generation, Iwis today employs more than 850 people at its production sites in Munich, Germany, Strakonice in the Czech Republic, and the Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech.
Iwis chains are distributed worldwide.
In the UK, Iwis products are available through Iwis-Flexon in Tipton, Worcestershire.
Established in 1974, the Iwis subsidiary specialises in the distribution of roller chains and the production of attachment chains.
