Iwis has developed a chain calculation program

Available with an English user interface, the software assists users in calculating chain drive configurations and selecting suitable chains for their application.

Industrial chain drives include conveying chains, as well as driving chains for transmitting power and motion between parallel shafts and for controlling both static and dynamic loads.

The new software can be used to calculate the required chain size and strength required for each application.

Using variables such as drive power, chain loads in each chain section in conveying applications, bearing friction and frictional forces between chain and tensioning or guide rails, the program suggests a suitable chain that fulfils user requirements regarding durability, running characteristics, lubrication, dynamic behaviour and operating speed.

Users of the program can access a chain database, which contains all calculation and performance parameters for the Iwis precision chains and for standard chains according to DIN 8187, DIN 8188 and ISO 606.

The program is regularly updated with enhancements and with new findings in chain theory and from practical testing.

The current version of the software is available free of charge.
