With the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform already embedded in the i2 Supply Chain Operation Services (SCOS) software, the new agreement adds PowerCenter's real-time capabilities to i2 SCOS, extends the companies' existing OEM agreement by three years and opens the door for PowerCenter to be co-distributed across Asia-Pacific by NEC Corporation, said I2.

In the fourth quarter of 2004, i2 expanded its business alliance with NEC, the provider of enterprise products, to co-deliver supply chain management systems in Japan, China and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region.

Informatica PowerCenter has been a core component of those jointly delivered i2 supply chain products since 2001, providing a scalable platform for customers to integrate large volumes of data from multiple disparate sources, added i2.

Surku Sinnadurai, i2's chief information officer, said: "We have long had a successful partnership with Informatica, helping joint customers get the best from their data integration platforms along with our leading supply chain products to improve business agility.

The extension of our relationship and the addition of PowerCenter's real-time functions to our SCOS architecture can help customers further synchronise business processes across supply chains, enjoy up-to-the-second visibility into critical supply chain events and closely monitor key performance indicators to drive more proactive supply chain management.

PowerCenter is currently embedded within i2 SCOS to extract, transform, consolidate and validate data from multiple disparate systems across an extended supply chain for consistent data views.

PowerCenter's real-time functions are said to extend those capabilities to include the capture, transformation and bi-directional integration of operational data in real time to help enable real-time supply chain monitoring and decision-making.

Informatica and i2 have more than 80 joint customers worldwide, including NEC which, in addition to distributing i2 SCOS, is currently broadly implementing the system internally.
