Static eliminators smooth bowl feeder
operation
Static eliminators avoid problems that static electricity can cause to the smooth operation of bowl feeders, particularly when they are used to feed small moulded plastic components.
A vibratory bowl feeder seminar, hosted by the RCME, led to improved production processes using Meech Static Elimination solutions As a result of a number of enquiries from firms encountering efficiency problems with vibratory bowl feeders, the Regional Centre for Manufacturing Excellence (RCME) based at RTC North in Sunderland and part of the Government's Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) programme, hosted a seminar and practical workshop on the topic with the support of manufacturer, RNA Automation

Static Eliminators pass the AMD test
The Meech Static Eliminators Series 200 range, designed specifically for the electronics and semiconductor industry, has passed AMD's extensive tests for this type of equipment
During the seminar several members of the audience raised questions regarding the problems that static electricity can cause to the smooth operation of bowl feeders, particularly when they are used to feed small moulded plastic components.
Such parts can easily become statically charged, causing them to cling both to each other and to the sides of the bowl and therefore fail to feed correctly.
RCME consultant, Alan Hewett, while not being an expert on the subject himself, 'knew a man who was' and referred the questioners to Meech Static Eliminators' specialist, Alan Chadwick, who quickly arranged a visit to the company's premises.
After analysing the problem Alan proposed a static control solution which was subsequently implemented, with the result that the bowl feeder is now operating perfectly.
Alan Hewett sums up, "It is really satisfying to be able to report such convincing evidence of the benefits that RCME can provide, with support from companies such as Meech, to help MAS meet its objectives.
