Meeting metal cutting fluids regulations

Offering free expertise, Jemtech (UK) is the sole UK agent for the Swiss company, Blaser Swisslube, which produces high quality mineral and vegetable oil based water miscible cutting fluids and neat cutting oils.
The company said that its expertise in fluid management will provide is assistance in meeting the numerous regulations and can show how systems can be easily maintained.
Blaser Swisslube's Blasocut products have a novel formulation, in that they do not use biocides to preserve the machine tools coolant sump.
Blaser Swisslube's leading objective is to keep the operator safe and healthy when in contact with metal cutting fluids.
The company added that it will carry out, without charge, a complete review of cutting fluid usage.
It will offer advice on reducing costs through extending coolant life and increased cutting tool life, whilst reducing consumption.
It will also protect the machine tool against damage from aggressive additives.
Jemtech said that much of what the HSE inspectors are recommending is simply common sense and housekeeping.
Managing cutting fluids effectively in a proactive way, as prescribed by Jemtech and Blaser, rather than reacting to situations as they occur will deliver significant benefits not only in health terms but also to the performance of a business.
