Jenoptik US measurement shareholding
The Jenoptik Group has taken over the outstanding 75% of the US enterprise Detroit Precision Hommel, based in Rochester Hills near Detroit, and now owns 100% of the company.

Detroit Precision Hommel manufactures production and assembly measuring technology for the automotive and automotive supplier industry and sells the Hommelwerke product range to numerous customers in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
It has 57 employees and, in 2006, generated sales of almost US$15 million.

Back in 2002, Hommelwerke incorporated its US activities into the former Detroit Precision Tools Co and has held a 25% stake in the company since that time.
The remaining shares, which have now been acquired, were privately owned.
The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price.
The 100% takeover was part of the preparations for the merger of Detroit Precision Hommel with the Etamic Corporation, Plymouth, which is also based close to Detroit.
The merger creates a system supplier in industrial measuring technology for the North American market.
A range of synergies will be utilized, bringing cost advantages from consolidation of infrastructure and integration of sales, marketing and IT structures.
There is also a major opportunity to significantly expand the service business in North America.
However, the main benefit is that Hommel-Etamic's global market presence and size will make it better qualified to win major international projects.
In addition to Germany and the USA, the Jenoptik Group company, which will operate globally as Hommel-Etamic in the future, has companies in France and Switzerland.
Hommel-Etamic has a total of almost 580 employees and is planning a worldwide sales of more than EUR 80 million for 2007, including the now fully acquired US company.
The measuring technology specialist is also present in China and South Korea with shareholdings.
Overall, this will make industrial measurement technology one of Jenoptik's most international and highest-sales areas of business.
