Latest CNC surface and cylindrical grinding machines feature touchscreen systems and will be shown at MACH 2006 as well as new B-axis wheelhead and C-axis workhead and thread-grinding option.

Jones and Shipman presents to the market at MACH 2006, a selection of its latest, easy to use, Touchscreen controlled grinding machines and the benefits to its customers that will be delivered by its strong, experienced, UK based sales and support team Machines to be exhibited are the recently introduced Dominator 624 Easy, the 524 and TechMaster Easy surface grinders plus the Suprema and Ultramat cylindrical grinders both also employing the Easy control

New to the Ultramat Easy exhibited will be a B-axis wheelhead, C-axis workhead and the all new thread grinding option.

This all-new product range shows that Jones and Shipman are determined to maintain their position at the forefront of grinding technology.

Almost four years ago the Company set out on a program to radically overhaul its product line, design philosophy and manufacturing strategy.

To support this radical approach the company relocated its operation, within Leicester, UK, to a modern site a few miles from its historical base.

The strong growth experienced since then has given the company the solid foundation from which it has flourished.

All models have been exceptionally well received in the UK and overseas markets, with growth just in the UK up by 50% in 2005 compared with 2004.

According to managing director Alan Spears, the increased popularity of the machines is due to the extensive R and D efforts the company has made to identify the most critical requirements of its customers and to develop machines that meet those requirements.

The new Easy range gives customers the benefits of traditional CNC with the added advantages of simple fast set-ups and higher productivity, offering end users the ability to compete effectively in the worldwide market place.

Spears said, "We have over 100 years of experience in grinding technology, and we have applied this knowledge and experience to the development of products that suit current manufacturing circumstances.

Recently the production environment has become even more difficult in the face of increased overseas competition and so companies have to be more versatile and effective in all they do.

Here at Jones and Shipman we have created a comprehensive range of modern, up-to-date surface, cylindrical and creepfeed grinding machines that are even faster, more accurate and easier to use, so our customers can be more productive and consider a wider diversity of work.

We have also further expanded our product support services to ensure that we deliver objective technical help and assistance during process development which is carried through to the products installation and then throughout the life of the machine." * Dominator 624 Easy - the Dominator 624 Easy is a combined surface, profile, contour and creepfeed grinder ideally suited to the aerospace, automotive, medical, electronics and mould and die industries.

Developed primarily for the production environment, the Dominator Easy range offers unrivalled ease-of-use coupled with the highest levels of productivity.

Structural rigidity and machine dynamics are assured by its unique patented construction.

Available with either 3- or 4-axis control the Dominator Easy is fast to set up via the GE-Fanuc touchscreen and J and S icon based Easy grinding and dressing software.

This control provides Easy models with the capabilities to interpolate two or more axes simultaneously to provide precision grinding of complex shapes, angles, radii and surfaces, with quick and easy set-up.

Dominator Easy models are available as standard or can be tailored to suit the requirements of individual applications.

A wide range of additional options are offered.

* 524 Easy - designed by grinders for grinders, the J and S 524 Easy surface and profile grinder suits the requirements of the production environment as well as providing the accuracy, quick set up and change over demands of the toolroom.

It meets the criteria of both CNC and manual operation thanks to the Easy touchscreen control system.

The 524 Easy can function as a simple hand/hydraulic controlled machine with manual dressing and no set-up procedures.

However once set up it can perform fully automatic dressing and grinding cycles generating complex shapes, angles, radii and ultra flat surfaces quickly and easily.

The 524 Easy has been designed from scratch to give improved productivity.

With a new bed, saddle, table, column etc, it offers increased precision and rigidity and continues a long-established tradition of surface grinding excellence.

Generously proportioned high-grade cast iron major units all combine to create greater rigidity for optimum performance in terms of grinding accuracy and repeatability.

* TechMaster Easy - the TechMaster Easy is available in two table capacities, 600 x 300 and 800 x 400mm and offers unrivalled ease-of-use coupled to the highest levels of productivity.

With its GE-Fanuc touchscreen technology and Jones Shipman simple and fast-to-set software suite, it is proving to be the machine of choice for operators both old and new, where increased table capacity is required with high levels of precision.

* Suprema - the new Easy controlled J and S Suprema cylindrical grinding machine is easy and fast to set up, versatile, and competitively priced.

Accuracy and repeatability are assured.

Changeover times are minimised because much of the operator intervention normally necessary has been removed by simple but sophisticated software.

An advantage of the Suprema is that it combines the benefits of CNC with traditionally styled operation, so is extremely easy to use even for operators unfamiliar with CNC grinding.

Its GE FanucR Touchscreen control system uses J and S Easy proprietary self-teach software.

Offering productivity advantages in areas such as aerospace, mould and die, automotive, medical and the toolroom, the Suprema has particular benefits for medium/short work or even one-offs whenever ease and speed of changeover are paramount.

The range replaces traditional CNC, microprocessor and hydraulically controlled machines yet it retains a conventional layout and operating style.

* Ultramat Easy - now well established within the grinding community the J and S Ultramat Easy has recently been further enhanced by the addition of B-axis universal wheelhead and C-axis workhead options with a thread grinding software package.

The simplicity of the GE-Fanuc Touchscreen control and Jones Shipman's own software is matched by the machine's quality and its extremely stable fully supported 'T' bed construction with its widely spaced table and wheelhead slideways ensuring rigidity and ultra high accuracy.

Plain, anglehead and universal wheelheads, precision workheads, probing, gauging and autoloading options are available further adding to its popularity.

With the exception of the large capacity ProGrind range of surface grinders MACH 2006 will be the worlds first exhibition in which Jones Shipman will show its new Easy range in its entirety.

A range, which is proving that, even an operator with little or no CNC knowledge can precision grind complex components as well as more standard work.
