Placing great emphasis on building long-term partnerships with customers, Oxford Engineering invests in the latest technology and the most efficient manufacturing methods in order to meet demands for JIT delivery of kits direct to line, cost reductions, shorter lead times, less administration and low work in progress.
The flexibility and scalability of Jobshop enables the company to meet customer requirements and combat increasing competition from low labour cost economies in Eastern Europe and Asia.
I really like the system because it supports our drive to continually enhance the perception of Oxford Engineering as a key business partner who delivers customer's orders on time, says Rollings.
Reliability is a key issue and if we tick that box for them, they will come back to us again and again.
From the initial enquiry we can supply customers with an estimate and quotation including price and anticipated lead time.
We can follow the process from MRP and purchase ordering and scheduling, through the various production stages to customer receipt, service and support.
Not all manufacturing is carried out in-house.
Oxford Engineering relies on a network of suppliers to which it subcontracts specialist heat treatment, finishing, waterjet cutting, radiography and hydraulic pressure testing in addition to its own company in Estonia.
Eesti OU was set up in 2005 to provide a low cost manufacturing facility supporting a drive to keep prices down for customers.
Our principal machining expertise lies in the manufacture of small batches of small components, says Rollings.
We capitalise on the strengths of other suppliers by subcontracting out machining of larger batches of less complicated parts and pass the benefit on to our customers.
Jobshop allows the company to maintain a comprehensive database including manufacturing capabilities and a cross section of parts to the relevant supplier.
Purchase orders can be raised automatically and emailed directly which further streamlines operations.
The Oxford Engineering Estonia facility is linked to the company server and in this way benefits from the Jobshop installation.
The system will go live at sister companies Holifields in Abingdon and Huttons in Bicester over the next couple of months.
Jobshop is a very good tool and the support has been excellent, says Rollings.
Currently we have 35-40 staff using the system and we really benefit from the full traceability it provides with sales, accounts and production all linked in.
It helps us to identify quicker routes to produce orders for individual customers and we have better control of work flow.
The next stage is to invite a Jobshop consultant to sit down with us and show us how we can use more features to get even more out of this extremely versatile planning and control system. Request a free brochure from Jobshop ...
