Destined for part of the world which has recently suffered much uncertainty and instability, Trafex has experienced significant growth in both sales and production.
To cater for the continued growth, Trafex were in need of a press to help facilitate flexible production and lean manufacturing, from a press manufacturer they could trust to deliver a robust press with reliable back-up service.
The Rhodes RH100 Mechanical Press will be used to produce components for a variety of Switchgear products.
The Rhodes RH range offers one of the best standard specifications in the market place.
The press is controlled by a Rhodes "Rhodrive" combined hydraulic friction clutch and brake unit which is mounted on the crankshaft to ensure exceptionally good stop/start control, important when the press is operated in either second operation or pitch-and-trip modes.
The main drive is through double helical gears mounted on a quill rigidly fastened to the press body for improved operational safety and reduced maintenance.
To cater for the customers' wide range of components, the press offers an adjustable stroke mechanism as standard, with a pushbutton operated stroke-locking ring and pneumatic withdrawal facility.
The controls used for tool setting are mounted at eye level in order to facilitate press setting with a sequential operators guard hinged at the side to give full access for tool changing.
Additional customised features include anti-vibration mounts, air ejection system and a bolster plate specially machined to suit the customer's exact requirements.
Supply of the press will also include a two-year provision of spares.
With over one hundred Rhodes RH presses supplied throughout the world, Trafex General Manager, Jeff Adams said, "We turned to Joseph Rhodes to supply a well proven design, which will more than meet our manufacturing and budget requirements.".
