World's fastest bandsawing machine introduced

A Kaltenbach product story

Described as the 'world's fastest bandsaw' - it chieves accurate, quality finish at record speed for ali and non-ferrous materials - such as a 160mm diameter aluminium billet, cut in only 13 seconds.

World's fastest bandsaw achieves accurate, quality finish at record speed for ali and non-ferrous materials.

For example - 160mm diameter aluminium billet, is cut in only 13 seconds.

Kaltenbach have launched in the UK, an ultra high-speed version of the Behringer HBM high-performance bandsaw range.

The HBM range when launched in 2002 brought completely new levels of sawing speed and performance to the cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

On going development has now achieved significantly higher performance from new 'Aluminium Package' models, for sawing aluminium and non-ferrous metals, at cutting at rates previously unimagined and far faster than any other bandsaws.

The HBM range comprises three models for different material capacities, now offered with an established high-performance general cutting specification for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, or a new, ultra-high performance 'Aluminium Package' for each model.

A 160mm diameter aluminium billet for example, is cut in only 13 seconds.

With a blade velocity of 1300m/min and down-feed speeds well in excess of 800mm/min, the Aluminium Package performance is staggering.

The three alternative material capacities of HBM models are; HBM370, 440 and 540 which respective sawing capacities of 370mm diameter or 440mm wide x 370mm high; 440mm diameter or 440mm wide x 440mm high: 540mm diameter or 630mm wide x 540 high.

HBM - Aluminium Package models have added features, such as; a 22kW high-performance motor, ball-screw down-feed (hydraulic on general performance models) and Dynamic-cutting, a specially developed cutting sensing and control system that dynamically adjusts the sawing down-feed from first to final contact with the material.

This maximises cutting speed, finish and accuracy and prolongs the life of the cutting band.

TCT (tungsten carbide Tipped) blades are used with the Aluminium Package models, and recommended for all HBM models, although the general performance HBM models can accept TCT or Bi-metal blades.

All HBM machines are particularly suited for non-ferrous applications with their special high-speed cutting capability and high efficiency swarf clearance.

The machines have an ergonomically designed total enclosure that accommodates the safe, easy containment and removal of both swarf and coolant.

The efficient removal of swarf from the blade can have a marked impact on band blade life, cutting efficiency and finish.

The HBM has a special double wire brush wheel, band cleaning arrangement, with a brush mounted either side and in direct contact with the saw band.

The brushes incorporate independent drive for positive swarf removal.
