Compact MIG/MAG welder also uses flux-cored wires

Designed for sheet metal work as well as demanding repair, maintenance and general fabrication work, a compact MIG/MAG welder has the latest rectifier technology for excellent welding characteristics.

For sheet metal work in automotive body and repair shops, agricultural contractors as well as demanding repair, maintenance and general fabrication work, the new Kempomat 1701 MIG/MAG 170A compact welder from Kemppi (UK), whose parent Company is Kemppi OY based in Lahti, Finland, has been designed for professional welders who expect quality performance from their welding equipment.

Using a 230V single-phase power supply, Kempomat 1701 is equipped with an 8-step voltage control ranging from 30A/14V to 170A/22.5V.

It also utilises the latest rectifier technology to provide excellent welding characteristics from CO2 and mixed gas MIG welding using solid and flux cored wires ranging from 0.6mm to 1.2mm diameter and features an external polarity changing system for gas shielded or flux cored wire welding.

Kempomat can be used to weld stainless steel, aluminium as well as mild steels.

The loading capacity is rated at 85A at 60% duty cycle, whilst the stepless wire feed speed control feeds wire from 0 -18m/minute through a 2 wheel drive feed mechanism and together with the voltage control provide the operator with the best possible weld settings.

A timer unit for cycle arc/spot welding as well as 2/4-sequence function is also included.

Although the Kempomat 1701 comes supplied with a KMG MIG welding torch with an inclined torch angle connection for smooth feeding of the welding wire, it is fitted with a Euro connector for use with other makes of torch.

Weighing only 47kg and with a height of 655mm it is ideal for operating from and/or storing under a workbench.
