MIG welder gains international design award
WElding equipment manufacturer Kemppi's MinarcMig Adaptive 180 MIG welder won the international Red Dot design award - a prestigious German industrial design award.
Kemppi's MinarcMig Adaptive 180 won the international Red Dot design award, which is one of the most prestigious industrial design awards.
The award makes Kemppi the only welding equipment manufacturer in the world to have won the award.
The design Oscar gala was celebrated in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.
More than 2,000 products from 41 countries were reviewed in the Red Dot product design competition.
The MinarcMig Adaptive 180 from Kemppi won the award in the Industry and Crafts equipment category.
The success of the machine was guaranteed by the completely new approach in engineering, design and quality.
The international panel of judges evaluated the innovativeness, practicality, quality, ergonomics, durability and environmental-friendliness of each product.
The user-friendly design of MinarcMig Adaptive 180 made good on Kemppi's customer promise, 'The Joy of Welding'.
Thanks to the unique design and user interface solutions of the machine, welding is significantly faster.
Its adaptive, intuitive controls are simple and the instructive LCD display makes using it easy.
The machine's ease of use makes the MinarcMig Adaptive 180 perfectly suitable for professional and hobby applications.
"The Red Dot award is an award for a successful product.
Industrial design does not refer only to the appearance of a product.
What it means, is comprehensive design and engineering, which involve manufacturability, operation and operability.
Candidates in the Red Dot competition are reviewed for all these factors," explained Jonne Valola, the designer of the winning product.
The award gala, hosted in Germany, saw the elite of industrial design, starting with the Italian top car designer Giorgio Giugiaro.
Kemppi's product design team representatives participated in the design Oscar gala in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.
Joachim Kalwe, the director of Kemppi's German subsidiary, Kemppi, who also participated in the gala, considers it very important that Kemppi is the first welding equipment manufacturer to have received the Red Dot design award.
"It shows that Kemppi is not only leading in technology and quality but also in user friendly devices." Kalwe added: "When people see a Red Dot awarded product, they can associate the red dot with other products bearing the symbol, whether they be coffee machines, home entertainment systems or cars.
Red Dot is a genuine proof of high quality in design and implementation also outside the welding business.
A good and user-friendly design provides the customer with an equipment that does the job as expected and brings the Joy of Welding." * A dedicated company can create world-class products - a significant award such as the Red Dot plays an important role in Kemppi's operations and its product development.
Kemppi is a company that sells the majority of its products in the international markets.
The globally recognized Red Dot award encourages Kemppi's personnel to develop even better welding solutions and further promotes the international recognition level of the company.
Kemppi's prize-winning product development team thinks that designing a success product requires strict commitment from the whole team.
"The Red Dot competition features companies of different sizes, but when you look at the products that win the award, you realize that the company doesn't need to be gigantic and manufacture millions of products to receive the Red Dot recognition.
It was great to see that the product we make is up to par for comparison with products of global enterprises.
It strengthens our confidence in our vision and talents.
The award also increases the motivation to excel again and again so that we can keep providing the customers with easy-to-use and efficient welding machines," said the design team.
Kemppi's award-winning MinarcMig Adaptive 180 can be seen in the largest industrial design exhibition in the world, the Red Dot Design Museum in Germany.
