Customized tooling made for fine machining
Extending its manufacturing facility at Ruebig/Nabburg, Germany, as the competence centre for fine machining, Kennametal now offers precision reaming tools and tools for fine-boring operations.
The new generation of multifunction mill/turn centres are demanding flexible and high tech tooling systems.
Kennametal offers the new flexible tooling system KM63UT (Kennametal Modular 63 Universal Tool Changing), equipped with four holes in the V - groove with following tool changing location features: * Two horizontally opposed location holes in the V-groove for the tool changer and for storage in the tool magazine.
* Two deeper additional holes which can be used for tool orientation.
Two vertically orientated holes in the V-groove which are useable for a tool identification chip and tool balancing.
Further new features include a standard hardness of 50 to 54 HRC giving optimal toughness from the taper end to the insert pocket seat.
This ensures maximum protection against wear at all contact points and highest stability under high cutting loads.
The KM63UT tools have a silver satin finished surface.
Summary of benefits: * Full compatibility with KM63 and UT63 tools and adapters.
* Usable for manual and fully automatic tool changing on lathes and modern mill turn centres.
*Proven precision ground tool taper and locating face.
* Optimised coolant supply directly onto the cutting point, guaranteeing highest-level performance.
For dry machining the coolant hole can easily be closed by a screw.
* By further variations in using these four holes, an extremely wide range of machine-specific configurations for tool changing and magazine storage can be covered with KM63UT.
