Solid carbide drill geometries double
feed rates
Three solid-carbide drill series, which are optimally designed for machining steel, SS and CI, can reach twice the feed speeds of straight-fluted drills without any problem.
With its new SE-Drills, featuring HP and HPC geometry, Kennametal is introducing three new solid-carbide drill series which are optimally designed for machining steel, stainless steel and cast iron The drills have the patented HP (HP = Highly Positive) ground face which gives a high reduction in feed thrust

Micro tooling system speeds up auto lathe changes
Quick-change tooling system for automatic lathes, featured in the "Micro Machining Tools" catalogue, has achieved time savings of up to 40% and can be used in turning and boring operations.
Modular drill can be changed in the machine
Modular high-performance drill, that can be changed while in the machine, adds value by reducing machining time and down-time in drilling operations.
Large flutes guarantee excellent chip flow even at extreme speed.
This enables process-reliable drilling of case hardening and heat treatable steels at up to 200m/min at high feed rates, without any reduction in tool life compared with conventional drills and cutting speeds.
At comparable tool costs production times can therefore be halved.
The SE-Drill with HPC geometry is particularly suitable for drilling cast iron.
Four heels ensure excellent stability, which is a particularly important feature when drilling deep or transverse holes, or if the drill-hole exits at an angle.
Cutting points are optimally protected against mechanical stresses by corner chamfers, which also ensure very "clean" drill exits.
Kennametals new HPC drilll can reach twice the feed speeds of straight-fluted drills without any problem.
The drills for steel and cast iron are supplied in the cutting material grade KC7315.
The tough fine-grain carbide in combination with a very smooth TiAlN multilayer coating offers an optimal balance between wear resistance and chemical resistance and is therefore ideal for high-speed machining.
The KC7515 grade was developed for drilling stainless steel.
This golden nano-layer coating possesses excellent coefficients of friction and therefore minimises the formation of built-up edges; which is a key requirement for the reliable machining of austenitic stainless steels.
