To suit modern multi-purpose turning and milling machines, a novel multi-station tooling system increases the efficiency and flexibility of these machines even further.

To suit the market growth of modern multi-purpose turning and milling machines, Kennametal has developed a unique multi-station tooling system that increases the efficiency and flexibility of these machines even further The compact design and superior rigidity of the new KM25 quick-change system provides a basis for the design of tools with multiple cutting edges that offer very great flexibility of use

Multi-station tools reduce machining time significantly.

One tool change instead of four or even six with conventional turning tools reduces downtime significantly.

Use of the modular KM25 system also generates savings on replacement tools: in many cases only replacement KM25 cutting units will need to be sourced, not of the main body.

And in the event of damage or a tool change, only the KM25 cutting unit needs to be swapped.

As an additional benefit a multi-station tool replaces four or even six traditional turning tools, it only takes up one storage position in the tool magazine, allowing improved utilization of the tool magazine.

This can also reduce the investment costs involved in procuring a new turning/milling center by reducing the size of the tool magazine required.

These new tools also allow for more efficient utilization through unmanned operation.

By equipping the multi-station tool with four identical cutting edges, the productive time of the machine can be significantly increased.
