An indexable insert drill has a wear-resistant substrate, whichable to resist high temperatures and cutting speeds can also be enhanced significantly.

KC7815 is a new CVD grade for drilling with indexable inserts, which Kennametal has put on the market It achieves tool-life improvements of up to 100%

As this cutting grade is based on a wear-resistant substrate able to resist high temperatures, cutting speeds can also be enhanced significantly.

The polished surface with a 12 micron thick MT-CVD TiCN-Al2O3 coating improves the chip flow and prevents the formation of built-up edges.

The new cutting material is suitable for drilling and countersinking applications in standard and custom tooling solutions with Drill-Fix DFR and Drill-Fix DFT.

It can be used for all kinds of steel and cast iron.
