Cutting tools maker appoints sales MD

Gerald Goubau, now managing director Sales and Services for Kennametal Europe, brings with him a broad, international managerial background combined with vast marketing and sales experience.

Effective January 2007 Gerald Goubau took over the position of managing director Sales and Services for Kennametal Europe Goubau previously worked for Honeywell and held positions of increasing responsibility as general manager and most recently he was vice-president and general manager responsible for Building Solutions EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) with strong focus on Sales and Marketing

Prior to Honeywell he served in various sales and marketing functions at Siemens.

He holds a master's degree in engineering and an MBA from INSEAD, France.

He speaks Dutch, French, English and German fluently and brings with him a broad, international managerial background combined with vast marketing and sales experience.

Goubau's goals include further strengthening the organization to support Kennametal's growth and creating the foundation for the key growth areas of distribution, geographic expansion, Global Key Account Management, specific market segments and development of Services.

Klaus Thomas has accepted the position of managing director Central and Southeast Europe.

This function includes the responsibility for metalworking sales in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Southeast Europe.

Since 2002 Thomas has been successfully leading Kennametal Germany as managing director.

Thanks to his vast experiences, this business sector has been increasing continuously over the past few years.

Numerous improvements in the sales organization to improve customer service were established.

Both organizational changes constitute an important step toward achieving Kennametal's ambition to 'be the best in customer satisfaction'.
