Software translates CAM tool paths for
routing
A CAD/CAM system for use with KMT RoboTrim 6-axis robotic router trimming systems seamlessly integrates into the RoboTrim and JetTool trimming systems.
To implement robotic routing applications using tool paths generated in computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software, KMT Robotic Solutions is now offering the CamPro CAD/CAM system The software is for use with the company's range of cost-effective, turnkey RoboTrim 6-axis robotic router trimming systems

Robotic router tools changed when operating
System for robotic routing systems allows tools to be changed while the routing system is in operation and offers an automatic update of tool parameters when a tool is changed.
As well as being the best way to implement robotic routing applications, the offline programming capability offered by the new CamPro software seamlessly integrates into the RoboTrim and JetTool trimming systems.
It meets a preference among many manufacturers of thermoformed, injection moulded and rotationally moulded parts, especially those who previously used CNC trimming systems, to program trim paths in CAM software, said KMT.
Utilising an off-line programming tool such as CamPro increases productivity by separating a great majority of the programming time required from the actual machine, said KMT to manufacturingtalk.

Open gantry gives routing robots optimum reach
'Open gantry' concept applied to a CNC milling/routing system features inverted robots mounted on a gantry frame to provide optimum reach for trim applications in a variety of materials.
Off-line generated programs based on part data can result in more accurate programs than can be achieved with teach pendant based programming.
The graphical simulation capability of CamPro also allows for the robot program to be checked off-line, identifying interference situations before they occur on the actual equipment.
* Programming time reduced - all of this saves programmer's time and results in more parts being made per hour.
In this way, KMT Robotic Solutions' robotic routing systems can trim parts with up to 50% higher throughput than traditional 5-axis CNC systems, whilst offering enhanced trimming flexibility and cost savings through increased productivity, uptime and safety.
There are features incorporated in CamPro to support use of RouterWare and JetWare, to 'hook' into custom KMT utilities, and to automatically create usable robot programs (not just tool paths) from the CAM program.
The CamPro software contains all the codes necessary to execute including the following.
* Tooling on/off statements.
* 'Air moves' from home, to safe, and to home positions.
* Codes for AccuFind.
* Codes for KMT user frame schemes.
In addition, a scheme of program size management is integrated into the program that is written so that the management of large milling programs happens automatically through robot memory.
It gets support for drip-feed of large routing files and seamless integration into the SmartFile robot memory management software.
* Increasing productivity - as well as being an ideal programming tool for a new KMT robotic routing system, the CamPro system offers a solution for existing users of robotic routing systems, looking to increase the productivity of their systems.
The product need only be purchased once and allows the customer to program multiple KMT robot systems.
KMT's range of cost-effective, turnkey robotic router trimming systems are designed for use on polymeric parts produced by thermoformers, plastics moulders and composite manufacturers.
A wide range of industries is involved, including white goods, electrical appliance, automotive, bathroom equipment, consumer goods, marine craft and boatbuilding.
The routing systems are also suitable for use in the aluminium industry.
