Siemens installs KIPStar 8000

A KIP UK product story

KIP UK Limited has installed the KIPStar 8000 high performance print system at the Lincoln offices of Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery

KIP UK Limited, one of the world's leading suppliers of wide-format digital reprographic systems, has installed the KIPStar 8000 high performance print system at the Lincoln offices of Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery , a leading supplier of gas turbines for Industrial Power Generation and the Oil and Gas Industry.

Siemens will use the new printing technology to reproduce engineering drawings for customers including many leading oil companies and organisations in the power generation sector.

The Siemens solution will be supported by KIP's Customer Support Package.

Siemens can now create eleven A0 copies of its engineering drawings every minute, which is half the time taken by its previous system.

KIPStar 8000 integrates folding capability into the printing software to provide a single process and ensure larger drawings are packaged correctly.

Siemens has already implemented the KIP 2080 scanning solution which has reduced scanning times from several hours to merely a few minutes by using KIP's Real-Time Thresholding process.

"The installation of the new printing system was very quick, and the improvements in quality and speed have already been considerable," commented Mel Clark, Printing Manager at Siemens in Lincoln.

"KIP replaced our old system which needed an upgrade and greater integration with other applications and systems, such as folders.

The new solution has already increased our production rate by printing at around twice the speed of our old one.

This is not the first time we have worked with KIP: we used its services when we replaced our old scanner in late 2003.

That sped up the archiving and digitalisation part of our operation, but also ensured TWAIN compliance, so we could integrate with more applications.

"We are very impressed with how well both solutions have lived up to their promise," added Mel Clark.

"It is not only the systems which have impressed us though.

The implementation itself was done in just one day, with consultants coming in the following day to deliver training on the new systems.

If that wasn't enough, we had a follow-up visit a week later to see if it needed any further fine tuning!" Chris Hill, Managing Director of KIP UK Limited, commented: "We pride ourselves on delivering systems which create and reproduce documents to the highest quality, but we are also aware that supporting those systems is important, which is why we have highly skilled technicians and consultants and have developed our processes to make the KIP Customer Support Package fully comprehensive." The KIPStar 8000 Digital Reprographic System provides a high quality end product while being 100 per cent toner efficient and high speed, running at 14.4 metres per minute.

The software is based on an open architecture, which allows it to be integrated with Siemens existing resources as well as the entire range of KIP products.

This includes the KIP 2080 scanning system, which uses Real-Time Thresholding to drastically reduce the time needed to 'clean up' scanned images, by doing this while it is scanning the document.
