UK rotary tables' sales are 'booming'
Leading workholding and ancillary equipment supplier Kitagawa Europe has reported booming sales of rotary tables following the UK launch of its 'X configuration' models at MACH 2006.
Leading workholding and ancillary equipment supplier Kitagawa Europe has reported booming sales of rotary tables following the UK launch of its 'X configuration' models at this year's MACH show in May Developed specifically to accommodate the high loads generated by latest generation cutting tools and machinery, TMX, TRX, TBX and TUX models require just a standard workshop air supply to produce clamping torques normally only attained by hydraulically-operated units

High productivity NC rotary tables
The MR201 and TW2180 high productivity NC rotary tables from Kitagawa Europe are capable fo a clamping torque of 820 Nm from a 0.5 MPa pneumatic supply.
This has been achieved by re-development of Kitagawa's proven TM, TR, TB and TU rotary table ranges to incorporate an internal pneumatic-hydraulic booster without increasing the original units' size.
As a result, the new models typically achieve more than double the clamping forces of equivalent earlier types.
They also provide high accuracy and repeatability, without any reduction in the machine tool's cutting envelope.

Multi-stage filters maintain productivity
Traditional oil mist filtration equipment can sometimes struggle to cope with the demands of high productivity machining operations, but Absolent filter units are designed to satisfy.
Indexers offer repeatability under heavy cuts
When Pacson came to evaluate rotary indexing units to enable valve bodies to be machined in a single cycle it should choose Kitagawa equipment; not just once, but twice!
Major uplift in orders for Kitagawa
Sales are booming for Wiltshire-based Kitagawa Europe, with a major uplift in orders across its product range leading to a 10-year high in business levels during August.
Furthermore, all new units offer up to 15% increased through hole capabilities in comparison with equivalent TM, TR, TB and TU series variants, reflecting their suitability for larger sized components.
Other new indexing tables on show at MACH included the compact, high speed TT101 and heavy duty TT182 tilting units.
A further new 4th/5th axis model is the TT140, which provides clamping torques of 280Nm and 500Nm in the rotary and tilting axes respectively, more than double the values of the 120mm faceplate model from the same product range.
The TT140 is also Kitagawa's first rotary table to incorporate a faceplate that rotates around the tilt axis centreline.
The need to compensate for axis offset is therefore eliminated, resulting in significantly easier and faster programming.
Furthermore, the TT140's new brake design and ultra compact space envelope enable it to offer an increased tilt angle range, from minus 110 deg to plus 110 deg off horizontal.
All Kitagawa rotary tables can either interface directly with the machine tool's controller or be supplied with the company's Mac Mini, MMiH or MMiH2 control units.
The MMiH2 now allows both the 4th and 5th axis drives of tilting indexers to be controlled from a single, simple-to-programme, integrated unit.
In addition, a remote control function enables the rotary table's programme to be input directly into Fanuc, Mitsubishi and Okuma controllers via an RS232 interface cable.
"Demand for rotary indexing tables has consistently exceeded forecast since the launch of our latest models at MACH," commented Kitagawa's sales director, Colin Birch.
"All our units offer clear manufacturing benefits and productivity improvements - ensuring a fast payback for anyone looking to maximise the capabilities of their NC equipment.
Furthermore, our comprehensive model range is reinforced by an experienced team of applications and support specialists, who will quickly guide users to the most appropriate indexer for their specific needs." * About Kitagawa Europe - based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, Kitagawa Europe offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of workholding and productivity solutions in the UK.
