Bar feeder matches CNC automatic needs

A Kitagawa Europe product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Dec 18, 2007

A bar feeder is designed for the fast feeding of bars from 0.8mm to 12.7mm, including matching the high acceleration rates and high spindle speeds of CNC automatic lathes.

Kitagawa Europe rportrs that IEMCA's 'Elite 112' bar feeder provides fast and reliable feeding of bars from 0.8 to 12.7mm diameter.

The feeder offers performance, flexibility and reliability.

Designed to meet the growing needs of the high precision micro-mechanical market, Kitagawa said that the Elite 112 is ideal for feeding 0.8 to 12.7mm diameter stock, even on lathes with very high spindle speeds and headstock accelerations.

The bar feeder uses closed, calibrated, round section channels and high performance rotating tips to achieve fast and accurate operation.

In addition, the development of custom-engineered low inertia components allows precise synchronisation with all types of machine headstock, including those actuated by linear motors.

The Elite 112 provides a 28 bar capacity and achieves bar changes in just 26s with 3.2m long stock.

Its material magazine also features a stepping action that ensures extremely reliable operation with small diameter raw material and the unit's purpose-designed snap-in channels enable change-over times to be reduced to as little as four minutes.

A library of default settings accessed through the Elite 11''s control panel means that no adjustments will normally be required during the equipment's long and productive service life.
