Water jet machine doubles profiling production
Installing a water jet cutting machine has not only doubled production at Yorkshire Profiles, it has also allowed its managing director to get a good night's sleep!
Installing a KMT Waterjet Systems powered Waterjet Sweden cutting machine has not only doubled production at Yorkshire Profiles, it has also allowed Managing Director, Martin Halliwell to get a good night's sleep! The company was set up around two years ago and since taking delivery of the new system, Halliwell can now leave the machine running and go home with total confidence - it even sends a text message to his mobile phone when it has completed a job.
"It has made a tremendous difference to me," enthused Halliwell.
"I know when I switch on the machine it will work and work well.
As the fully automatic machine is so powerful, Yorkshire Profiles can also use two cutting heads with larger orifices so production rates have more than doubled.
The Waterjet System machine was supplied by UK agents Wightman Stewart.
It is powered by a Streamline* SL-IV plus 50HP High Pressure Intensifier with twin accumulators and produces up to 4100bar (60,000 lb/in2).
The cutting table is 3 metres x 1.5 metres.
The versatility allows Yorkshire Profiles to cut a wide range of architectural and engineering materials - currently from one thousandth of an inch brass shim, through to two inch thick stainless steel, in addition to neoprene, aluminium and various sections of tube.
As well as total machine reliability, fast installation and commissioning, along with good backup were very important factors to Yorkshire Profiles as the waterjet machine is the only source of income for the company.
"Installation was very quick and service has been excellent," stated Halliwell.
Since installation of the new machine business has been booming for Yorkshire Profiles and Halliwell is so confident in the new equipment that he has even taken on staff: "I know when I switch on the machine it will complete the work without any problems.".
