Abrasive management system optimises waterjetting

A KMT Waterjet Systems product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 25, 2004

An abrasive management system provides the highest levels of accuracy, reliability and economy in continuous abrasive flow for optimising any abrasive cutting system.

KMT Waterjet Systems, the leading supplier of waterjet cutting systems, offers the AMS Abrasive Management System that provides the highest levels of accuracy, reliability and economy in continuous abrasive flow.

Representing an attractive solution for optimising any abrasive cutting system, the AMS automates abrasive metering, leaving the operator free to look after the actual cutting process.

Central to the system is the Feedline III Abrasive Metering system that provides an accurate, fully adjustable flow rate to the cutting head mixing chamber.

This eliminates any chance of blockages, having a maximum flow rate of 1000g/min (standard particle size 80 mesh abrasive).

For ease of use, different flow rates to suit varying applications can be either stored in the material database of the control system or electronically adjusted using the Feedline III potentiometer.

The Autoline Abrasive Cutting Head, which forms an essential part of the AMS system, has been chosen as the number one in the waterjet industry by a world renowned group of experts.

They found it to cut faster and more consistently with greater cost savings than all other units under test.

Autoline's consistently sharp jet of water and abrasive gives a high degree of repeatability in addition to a remarkable cutting speed.

Setting a new benchmark for precision and productivity, Autoline also reduces downtime and cost thanks to the mixing chamber and focusing tube being replaceable individually.

The complete Active Autolinecutting head and pneumatic valve weigh in at only 2.3kg (5.0lb), offering flexibility to the end user, particularly when used with multi-head and 3D cutting machines.

The final part of the AMS system is the Abraline III Abrasive Transfer System that monitors availability and guarantees sufficient quantities of sand throughout the entire cutting process, protecting the user from potentially high unnecessary costs.

Especially suited to machines running on a multi-shift basis, Abraline III can be installed to supply multiple machines in demanding cutting environments.
