In a joint venture with Smurfit Sisa Orsenigo, Italy (a member of the Smurfit Kappa Group), Kliklok Woodman has just supplied top load and wrap-around cartoning equipment to Italian company Corazza The installation is part of a fully-integrated soft cheese production line

The customised line includes a Kliklok SRWD tray forming machine, producing five different sizes of special shallow tray with 'turn-over' buffer walls and a single central lock-in tab.

Individual foil wrapped squares of soft cheese are placed in the tray, prior to entering the 'smart belt' infeed of a Kliklok Certiwrap C150 sleeving machine.

That wraps a flat carton sleeve around the filled tray, at speeds of up to 85 sleeves per minute.

A tamper-evident feature was designed on the C150 for this application, which vertically fires a dab of glue on to the base of the tray to adhere it to the sleeve.

The packaging line gives the customer a fully automated system to replace a time-consuming and labour intensive operation.

It will also give a tighter and more secure sleeve wrap.
