Correct lubrication is important and critical

A Kluber Lubrication GB product story

Optimised lubricant selection and management however is practically impossible without specialist in-depth know how and expertise.

The importance of correct lubrication The lubricant's primary function is to optimise the wear characteristics of friction components such that the machine or equipment concerned fulfils operating design requirements across its specified service lifetime.

Optimised lubricant selection and management however is practically impossible without specialist in-depth know how and expertise.

Kluber Lubrication is your partner in the development, application and monitoring of specialised lubricants for demanding service conditions.

What can go wrong? Without doubt the greatest problem faced relates to the general lack of knowledge and understanding in respect to lubricants and lubrication technology.

Time and time again the wrong lubricant is selected for the wrong application! Alternatively the lubrication regime is not "managed" resulting in unreliability, premature failure and machine downtime, again a common problem faced daily! The results of ineffective or incorrect lubrication can of course be catastrophic and may result in the following: * Component failure.

* Machine breakdown.

* Equipment downtime.

* Equipment recall.

* Maintenance costs.

* Lost production.

* Personal injury or fatal injury! * Legal action.

* Negative publicity.

Parameters leading to lubrication related failure are of course diverse, common ones are documented as follows: * Selection and use of the wrong lubricant, applied at the wrong time and in the wrong manner.

* Under lubrication or overlubrication (incorrect initial or relubrication quantities).

* Mixing of lubricants (greases and oils with differing chemical composition and or consistency / viscosity).

* Contamination of lubricants via fluid media, dust, dirt, process materials etc.

* Poor equipment design (poor sealing, lubricant loss, heat exposure etc).

* Effect of environmental influences.

(fluid media, dust, vacuum, heat exposure etc).

In general it should be remembered that the lubrication recommendation provided is only as good as information received.

To ensure all relevant facts are documented for consideration Kluber Lubrication can provide a range of technical questionnaires for rolling bearings, chain applications, compressors etc.

Available on request! Kluber Lubrication can offer more than 2000 variations of product formulation all with very different properties to meet the needs of a wide range of application parameters and conditions.

Training of Engineers is therefore of paramount importance to ensure optimised lubrication selection, machine reliability and operation.

Specialist training seminars on Lubrication Tribology are provided by Kluber Lubrication in order to facilitate improvement, awareness and education in this specialist subject.
