Dry lubricant avoids dripping conveyor chains

A Kluber Lubrication GB product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Feb 24, 2004

In many cases, the last thing a production shop wants is lubricant dripping from conveyor chains, but a dry lubricant is a non-soiling, non-tacky and provides excellent adhesion to chain parts.

Many applications utilise chain in one form or another for drive transmission, lifting, controlling or conveying.

In many applications the last thing you need is a wet lubricant.

It has to be purchased, stocked, transported and applied at a certain frequency; it has to be disposed of when used and, what's more, it cannot contaminate the product being manufactured nor attract airborne contaminants that help form an unpleasant, often black, coagulation on chain and sprockets rendering the chain impossible to re-lubricate anyway.

Due to these drawbacks people generally don't lubricate the chain and accept the short life and replacement costs (including downtime) as the norm.

This no longer needs to be the case; as a further addition to a range of dry lubrication solutions Kluber Lubrication has developed a wax-based dry lubricant for the initial and lifetime lubrication of chain.

Kluberplus SK 11 - 299 is a non-soiling, non-tacky lubricant providing excellent adhesion to chain parts, corrosion protection, water resistance and effective wear protection.

Evidence shows extended chain life over 300 % (life test on 1/2in pitch roller chain).

It is particularly suitable for chains exposed to dust, dirt, lint or water and it is now possible to reliably lubricate chains which, due to the operating conditions, could not be lubricated in the past.

Advantages at a glance: 8 Non tacky alternative to fluid lubricants.

* Non Soiling.

* No contamination of parts in contact.

* Low friction coefficient.

* Wear resistance.

* Resistance to water and mild aqueous solutions.

* No further re-lubrication needed.

As Kluberplus SK 11 - 299 is a special initial dip lubricant, Kluber provide the dipping process which means that customers can fit ready-lubricated chains and still do no additional lubrication tasks but extend chain life to save money and downtime.

Chain samples coated with Kluberplus SK11-299 will be on show at Maintec 2004 16 -18 March stand E7 and TOTAL 2004 29 March -1 April Hall 5 stand 5694 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.
