Predict gas compressor oil viscosity drops

A Kluber Lubrication GB product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Dec 2, 2005

Gas compressor oil simulator avoids having the soluability of the oil too high or too low, so avoiding a risk of substantial damage to the compressor and downtime for repairs.

TheWhen you are choosing a gas compressor oil, you have to keep a keen eye on the solubility of gases in the lube oil concerned when it is under pressure: because the gas flows will vary with each application, any predictions of the operational viscosity will be impossible to make, or at best highly imprecise.

If it is too high or too low, there is a risk of substantial damage to the compressor - perhaps resulting in a standstill of the entire line! The "Kluber Gas Compressor Simulator" can be used to calculate the precise dilution of the lube oil due to the gas dissolved.

The result is compared to empirical feedback from other applications, combined with the viscosity requirements laid down by the compressor's manufacturer, and used as a foundation for selecting the appropriate lube oil.

"The utility of our calculation program lies primarily in the technically sound, reliable determination of the viscosity in the compressor's operating state," explain the people at Kluber.

How you can in future save both time and money, and optimise the capacity utilization of your entire line, by always choosing the right lube oil, that is something our specialists will be pleased to show you.
