Chain lubricant and service saves downtime
A UK site of a major global confectionery manufacturer saved over GBP 48,000 in one outage in parts alone and helped increase throughput by eliminating lubrication- attributable downtime.
Chocolate processing plant utilising roller chain technology often results in the premature replacement of chain due to accelerated wear or poor articulation.
One common consequence is a "crash" situation due to irregular movement across 2 chain strands.
Chocolate residues and deposits (with or without caramel or wafer material) and sugar encrustation not only prevent new lubricant from penetrating but also cause a contamination risk of their own at sprocket turns.
Loss of positional control can also result in wastage, rework and unnecessary cost.
A UK site of a major global confectionery manufacturer saved over GBP 48,000 in one outage in parts alone and helped increase throughput by eliminating lubrication- attributable downtime.
Following assessment and verification of suitability, during a 72 hour window in a scheduled outage nearly 1,000 metres of moulding plant chain was removed, transported to the Kluber Service Centre, cleaned of all chocolate and caramel residues, pre-lubricated with special food grade lubricant and returned to site with an operational re-lubrication regime.
The Kluber food grade lubricant assures higher performance than the former industrial lubricant.
The chain had been condemned as unsuitable for continued use, but following examination of both chain and process, Kluber verified further service life capability subject to the above treatment.
A second assessment proves that wear has been arrested and the treatment process will be repeated meaning a further GBP 48,000 + saving.
Here is an innovative and integrated solution handled by Kluber that is proven to save money.
Assessment of your plant comes free of charge and you are assured of an honest assessment.
The above customer also had a chain rejected for treatment due to its condition.
