Mill/turn centre aimed at small batch sizes

A Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools product story

'All-rounder' mill/turn centre with two main spindles machines small batch sizes with a high degree of product diversity reduces the cycle times considerably.

Small batch sizes with a high degree of product diversity - that is what the turn mill center G400 has so far offered as a kind of all-rounder.

Therefore, the development of the first turn mill center with two motor milling spindles aimed at reducing the cycle times considerably while drastically increasing productivity.

This is a unique selling proposition, since the Index G400 makes this possible because of the machine length.

Efficient utilisation of the working area in Y-direction by the A-axis has been designed in a very flexible way.

In practice, this means: a very large scope of flange-shaped workpieces requiring a high degree of turning and milling at the main and counter spindle can be covered.

Even in case of large workpiece dimensions and front machining with diameters of up to 350mm and lengths of up to 350mm, excellent working area proportions are guaranteed.

The design of the motor milling spindles is identical with that of the G250.

That means that speeds of 12000 rev/min (grease lubrication) and up to 18000 rev/min (oil-air lubrication) are available.

Designed according to the tried and tested modular Index system, a compound slide at the right or left side supports the turning processes or it may also carry out finish-cut turning processes.

In addition, the A-axis permits radial and axial machining at the main and counter spindle.

Using a sample workpiece which required a high degree of milling as well as rearside machining, the cycle time could be reduced by 40% due to the second motor milling spindle.

The turn mill center G400 can be equipped with the Capto tool system and the newly developed tool magazine with 160 tool holders.

The advantages of the G400 at a glance: * Reduction of cycle times and increased productivity due to two milling spindles.
