Cleaning machine sales boosted in UK
The Solvent Emissions Directive have encouraged manufacturers to review their component cleaning and degreasing activities generating a growth in Durr equipment sales.

Geo Kingsbury Machine Tools, of Gosport, told manufacturingtalk.com that it has noted a 20-fold increase in annual sales of Durr (Duerr) washing machines in 2007, when compared with 2006.
Geo Kingsbury sells the German-built Durr Ecoclean range of industrial cleaning and filtration systems under a sole agency agreement.
The company said the sales inceased in spite of the availability of less expensive cleaning equipment options on the market, said Geo Kingsbury's business manager, Matt Cooper.
UK companies that have invested in Durr equipment during 2007 are spread throughout industry from Formula One, through manufacturers of precision bearings, hand tools and fasteners, to subcontract machinists and pressworkers.
One order alone was valued at GBP 400,000, said Geo Kingsbury.
Cooper said, "Considerable interest is being shown by the aerospace and medical industries, and we are also speaking in depth with optics and plastics processing firms.
The aerospace market is especially significant and will be a particular focus for us in 2008".
He added: "I believe that Durr equipment is selling well because it is not tied to one cleaning medium - we offer a range of cleaning media including aqueous, chlorinated solvents, hydrocarbons and polar systems.
Also, there is a vast range of equipment from small stand-alone machines to automated, bespoke cleaning lines".
Cooper said that a wealth of knowledge and expertise, coupled with exacting product quality and comprehensive service back-up, are important to be a successful supplier in this business.
Research, design and construction of Durr Ecoclean machines is centred around the company's factory in Filderstadt, Germany.
Geo Kingsbury is also to sell an additional range of Durr Ecoclean highly automated cells that suit large volume production applications such as for automotive industry.
