Superior solution offered for protocol
stack
A superior solution is being offered for implementing Internet connectivity in embedded applications based on Texas Instruments' TMS320 DSP: the bf3Net TCP/IP protocol stack.
Kane Computing, of Cheshire, England, and Windmill Innovations, of Nijkerk, the Netherlands, have announced that they have signed an agreement for Kane Computing to be the UK distributor for the 'bf3' range of embedded communications products developed and produced by Windmill Innovations Windmill Innovations offer both hardware products and software to support high-speed serial and ethernet communications between host computers and Texas Instruments DSP systems

Video images converted without framegrabbers
Analogue to digital video converters capture and convert NTSC/PAL video into digital images, then transfer them to a host computer, eliminating the need for plug-in framegrabbers.
Framegrabbers integrated into embedded systems
Real time image capture can easily be integrated into an embedded system. Support for Windows 95/98/200/N, VxWorks (x86) and Linux/RT Linux is provided.
The bf3Scp Serial Communication Protocol software is a serial communications architecture for host-target interaction between a PC and a DSP.
In essence, it consists of an eXpressDSP-compliant target protocol engine and an ActiveX host protocol engine which communicate through a UART channel.
The host-side software comes with a bf3Scp Visual Basic Wizard which creates a working Windows GUI in only a few minutes.

Windmill Innovations' engineers have created a superior solution for implementing Internet connectivity in embedded applications based on Texas Instruments' TMS320 DSP: the revolutionary bf3Net TCP/IP protocol stack.
Designed from scratch with DSP applications in mind.
Windmill Innovations' bf3Net embedded Internet software is the only eXpressDSP-compliant TCP/IP protocol stack available today.
Leveraging Texas Instruments' eXpressDSP Software Technology, bf3Net offer unsurpassed ease-of-integration.
The configuration and integration of the bf3Net TCP/IP protocol stack is a straightforward task with the bf3Net tools, which are tightly integrated with the Code Composer Studio 2.0 development environment.
Performance monitoring and profiling tools further simplify the design process.
A bf3Net Starter Kit is available, which enables application developers to quickly become familiar with the bf3Net TCP/IP Protocol Stack, and the accompanying bf3Net development tools; it is ideally suited for prototyping and rapidly implementing Internet connectivity in the early development stages of a TMS320-based application.
To provide communications to and enhance the functionality of DSP Starter Kits Windmill Innovations manufacture two daughter cards.
The bf3-100 BaseTx Ethernet DSK daughter card provides 100Mbit/s, full-duplex Ethernet communication, is compatible with the bf3Net TCP/IP protocol stack and includes technical documentation, tested driver software (source code), schematics and Cat.5 UTP cable.
The RS232 UART DSK daughter card provides dual RS232, full-duplex serial communications and includes similar levels of information and software as the ethernet daughter card.
Richard White, Managing Director of Kane Computing was very pleased that they had brought these top quality communications products into their portfolio.
"The DSP market needs fast and reliable ways of communicating with host PCs and these products meet these needs," he said.
"Windmill Innovations is committed to providing advanced solutions for the efficient and time-effective development of DSP applications," said Rutger van Dalen, Windmill Innovations, Vice President Engineering. Request a free brochure from Kane Computing ...
"The eXpressDSP-compliant bf2Net TCP/IP Protocol Stack with its state of the art development tools, and the bf3Scp Serial Communications Protocol as a rapid solution for developing Windows front-ends for DSP applications, clearly reflect the Windmill Innovations' product philosophy.".
