Video images converted without framegrabbers
Analogue to digital video converters capture and convert NTSC/PAL video into digital images, then transfer them to a host computer, eliminating the need for plug-in framegrabbers.
Framegrabbers integrated into embedded systems
Real time image capture can easily be integrated into an embedded system. Support for Windows 95/98/200/N, VxWorks (x86) and Linux/RT Linux is provided.
The VCP 1500 can also be used for TriMedia TSSA based algorithm development for PNX8950 platforms.
The VCP boards contain twice the memory of the LCP boards and integrates video output peripherals, whereas the LCP boards require daughtercards for video and audio output, but VCP has video and audio outputs integrated on-board.
The PNX1500 processor builds on the success of Philip's prior TM1100 and TM1300 generations of media processors by increasing clock speed and significantly enhancing the I/O capabilities.

Converter avoids framegrabber
For people who want to stream analogue NTSC/PAL video into PCs and laptops, where plugging in a framegrabber is not possible or not preferred, a converter does the job.
The PNX1700 processor is an enhanced, pin-compatible version of the PNX1500, with an improved CPU core, and further increased CPU clock speed.
The VCP supports video I/O in a variety of formats, making it ideal as a development platform for video encoding, decoding and processing applications.
The VCP 's built in Ethernet allows for development of embedded streaming media applications directly on the VCP card without the need for a host CPU for network support.
The card is available with the NXP NDK tools for compilation and debugging and MPTK decoder libraries.
A range of third party libraries are also available.
User's of Momentum Data Systems' earlier generation LCP PCI based products can easily port applications to the VCP card as its hardware is a superset of the older card and the board support library (BSL) abstracts the underlying hardware differences.
An optional daughtercards is available that significantly enhances the I/O capabilities of the platform and provides component/ RGB video capture up to 1080i, HDMI input up to 1080i (no HDCP), 656/camera input (8 bit) or 16 bit (656 like YUYV) digital video input and 8 channels of analogue audio in (four 1/8in stereo jacks).
For output the daughter card provides 8 channels of audio out (four 1/8in stereo jacks), 656 8 bit or 656 16 bit digital video output, 18 bit parallel LCD interface (31 pin style connector), LVDS serial interface for 24 bit LCDs up to 1366x768 and backlight control signals.
The daughtercard mounts to the front of the VCP card and uses the backplate of the adjacent slot for VGA and HDMI connectors. Request a free brochure from Kane Computing ...
