Advanced surface treatments request ISO 9001

A Keronite product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 9, 2008

Keronite International said that the Keronite Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation process has been put forward as part of the approval to be added to the corporate ISO 9001:2000 certification.

Keronite International said that the Company's Indianapolis Technology Center has been put forward for approval to be added to the corporate ISO 9001:2000 certification for the application of advanced surface treatments using the Keronite Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation process (PEO), as well as for the supply of processing plant, equipment and electrolyte products.

The certificate of registration for Keronite Incorporated will be issued by the US office of VCA, the executive agency of the UK's Department for Transport and one of the world's leading quality and environmental management systems certification bodies.

Keronite elected to work with VCA from the outset, valuing their years of experience with engineering companies, particularly in the automotive sector.

Lars Olrik, CEO of parent company, Keronite International, said: "VCA has always demonstrated a good understanding of the Keronite customer base and the issues facing our industry.

The work we did together in the UK in 2006 when preparing our Cambridge headquarters and Pershore manufacturing plant for the initial certification has provided a very solid foundation, enabling us very easily to transfer effective management systems and procedures to other Keronite facilities around the world".

He added: "The Keronite management team is convinced that the global focus on efficient working practices adds value for our customers and gives us that all important competitive edge in the market place".

General manager of Keronite Inc, Bill Buchman, and Paul Edmonds, vice president of Operations - US, agreed that truly successful companies are those that have a concept of continuous improvement running through every aspect of their business.

It is their firm belief that effective management systems on a global basis not only enable Keronite to control costs and improve operational efficiency, but also ensure that the Company continues to inspire confidence and keep customers satisfied.

Not only does the Company pride itself on the extensive market-driven development of the patented surface treatment process itself, but Keronite last year demonstrated a true commitment to the US market by investing heavily in the state-of-the-art Technology Center in Indianapolis.

The new facility not only provides an impressive showcase for the novel PEO technology, but serves as a center for customer-focused application development work as well as prototype and batch production of light alloy components for a wide range of industries.

With three successful audits behind him this month, global quality manager, Nigel Mangnall, is continuing to review management systems at all sites within the Keronite Group and to demand further improvements.

He said: "Our ability to win new business and retain existing customers is the only way we can really demonstrate our commitment to quality.

There is a strong team spirit throughout the Company: each and every one of my colleagues takes pride in the contribution he or she is making to the overall success of the business.

It is this deep-rooted determination to be the "best in class" that will ensure our customers keep coming back to Keronite".
