Insert drill range and grades extended

A Komet Präzisionswerkzeuge product story

A range of insert drills for bores with length to diameter ratios of 5D has been extended up to 36mm diameter along with two new grades for cutting cast irons and steels.

The technical advantages of the KUB Duon insert drill for bores with length to diameter ratios of 5D are mainly the result on the tool body and the stable insert seating using the familiar clamping method of a locking screw.

On the front, KUB Duon has two tangentially arranged inserts with single cutting edges.

These can be changed quickly and easily, even when they are in position on the machine.

The rigid insert seating and the innovative centre geome-try allows higher cutting speeds and feed rates to be achieved.

At EMO 2300 the Komet Group has extended the range of double insert tools in the diameter ranges from 17.5 to 36mm.

In addition two new cutting material grades for cast iron and steel will extend the range of applications.

An additional cost reduction in machining bores can also be achieved by combining KUB Duon insert drills with optional follow-inserts to make a stepped tool.

All Komet inserts are available for use on the drill steps.
